Last September, the German Meteorological Society and German Physics Society released new data showing we will reach 3C above pre-industrial levels by 2050. This means +2C in fifteen years, or by 2040. Grain yields will fail almost completely at +2C. No grains, no civilization. It also means +4C by 2080, which means earth can no longer support higher life.
Meanwhile, spring break just happened and millions traveled and flew, including my own neighbors, posting pictures of exotic locations reached by plane. What is happening? Are we ignorant or suicidal? In denial or disavowal? Or is this just human nature — to fiddle while Rome burns?
